Shoryuken.com has reported that Capcom has finally revealed more details about their Street Fighter III 3rd Strike release as well as an expected release date: Summer 2011. Below is the trailer and some screen shots:
A few details:
-The game is going to use GGPO as it's netcode. Awesome!
-Direct to Youtube replay sharing!
-Viewable in the screen shots below, you can see that the game will feature a Vault system, rewarding players with unlockables for completing certain tasks.
I can't wait for this game. 3rd Strike is back!
3rd Strike is one of the most beautifully animated 2D games out there, even without the new HD filters. I'm sure there will be a way to turn the HD presentation off if you would like though. I would venture to guess that there will be newly remixed music to play with as well. But if SSF2HDR was any indication you'll probably be able to switch between new and classic music too.
At the beginning of the video you can see hints and new character artwork done for the re-release. I can't wait to see what these look like. Another change that I noticed was that they used the character select screen art as your character icon next to the lifebars instead of actually using a head shot of the in game sprites.
That's about all there is to report on this for now, though I'm sure we'll hear more info at Capcom's E3 presentation.
